Women's Basketball Extends Win Streak to Five Games with 83-44 Victory over Lafayette

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Junior guard Rebekah May (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) came off the bench to score a career-high 15 points, all in the second half, and three other Bucknell players were in double figures, as the Bison defeated Lafayette, 83-44, in Patriot League action on Wednesday, February 7.
In a game in which Bucknell never trailed, the two teams battled to a 10-10 tie with 14:47 remaining in the opening half. Four and a half minutes later, the Bison lead was at 16, 26-10, after a layup by junior Kate Rounsley (Lock Haven, Pa./Lock Haven) capped a 16-0 run. The Orange and Blue cushion never dwindled below 12 the rest of the half, and the host team carried a 42-23 lead into the locker room.
The Bison built their lead to as many as 40 in the second half behind 54.5% shooting from the field, while holding the Leopards to just 28.6% from the floor.
Every player on the Bucknell roster saw time in the game, and the Orange and Blue were led by 17 points from sophomore Molly Creamer (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham). Also in double figures scoring were juniors Vicki Quimby (Wilson, Pa./West Lawn) and captain Monique LeBlanc (Cumberland, R.I./Bishop Feehan) with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Bucknell improves to 17-5 on the season and 7-1 in Patriot League play. The Bison travel to league-leading Holy Cross, the only team to defeat BU in league play, on Saturday, February 10 for a 1:00 p.m. game.
Lafayette falls to 6-16 overall and 2-6 in the Patriot League.
