A native of Ecuador and Rowayton, Conn., Nicole Vacas is the daughter of Francisco Vacas and Lorena Echeverria. She attended Brien McMahon High School, as well as the School for Field Studies in South Caicos, Turks & Caicos Islands. Majoring in political science and philosophy, Nicole graduated as a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
In her time on the Bucknell women’s rowing team, Nicole was a member of two Patriot League Championship boats, earning a gold medal in the Second Varsity Eight her freshman year and helping the Varsity Eight to a fourth-place finish her sophomore year. Nicole also proved to be a skilled athlete in sculling boats, earning the Ana Tamas Knecht Memorial Trophy for the Women’s Single at the 2019 Knecht Cup. She also competed internationally during her time as a Bison at the 2015 World Rowing Junior Championships in the Single event representing Ecuador. Nicole finished her senior season rowing the Varsity Pair to a third-place finish at the Dad Vail Regatta. Outside of rowing, Nicole was the vice president for the Phi Sigma Tau Honors Society, and she was active in the ROTC program on campus as a part of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
