Emily Gabriel, a 2019 Bucknell graduate who was an All-Patriot League rower for the Bison, returned to her alma mater as an assistant coach prior to the 2019-20 season.
A biomedical engineering major from Forty Fort, Pa., Gabriel earned First Team All-Patriot League honors as a senior after helping Bucknell's Varsity Eight to a runner-up finish at the Patriot League Championships. That performance clinched a strong second-place finish for the team and capped off an outstanding senior year for Gabriel. She also helped the 1V8+ to a silver medal at the Cooper Invitational and fourth-place finishes at the Dad Vail Regatta and Cherry Hill Invitational.
Gabriel was very involved in campus initiatives away from the water, and her efforts were recognized with the Robert A. Latour Service Award at the 2019 Bucknell Athletics Senior Awards Banquet. She was one of 12 Orientation Leaders who helped plan and prepare new-student orientation for first-year students. She also served as a Reunion Ambassador in 2018, served on the executive board for the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Affinity House, and participated with both the Bucknell Athletics Leadership Institute and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Gabriel served as a biomedical engineering research assistant, where she worked with a faculty advisor and DENTSPLY Sirona to investigate the mechanical properties of denture teeth through microindentation. Gabriel was a member of the Society of Women Engineers and Alpha Delta Pi, and she was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and the Bucknell Dean's List in the spring of 2019.
