Lisa Francisco, a former LPGA Tour Caddie who was a member of the Penn State women’s golf team during her college career, was named head women’s golf coach at Bucknell in June 2016. Francisco is the third head coach in the history of the program that began competition in fall 1998.
In the fall of 2018, Francisco helped the Bison set a school record with a 310.1 scoring average, while senior Katie Childers also broke the school mark with a 76.1 fall average. The Bison won the Hartford Hawks Invitational in the spring of 2019. The following season, Bucknell posted runner-up finishes at Hartford and Wagner, and junior Casey Morrow lowered the fall scoring average mark with her 75.6.
A December 2000 graduate of Penn State with a degree in recreation and park management, Francisco spent three years on the LPGA Tour as a caddie. In that role, she assisted professional golfers in golf course management, organized on-course notes, created golf course strategies and provided moral support. Francisco was also responsible for recruiting top players to professional tournaments.
Francisco has two years of college coaching experience at the College of William & Mary. She was an assistant to the director of golf with the Tribe and had a hand in all aspects of the women’s golf program from recruiting to organizing travel and home tournaments. Francisco also spent a year as a volunteer assistant at Penn State following graduation.
Around the time she was at William & Mary, Francisco also served as assistant golf professional at Kingsmill Resort & Spa and The Traditions Golf Club at Stonehouse, which are both located in Williamsburg, Virginia.
During her collegiate playing days, Francisco was named to the 1997 ECAC All-Conference Women’s Golf Team, and she was a key member of the Nittany Lions’ 1999 NCAA East Regional team.
