About the Bison
- Bucknell heads to Penn State for the Nittany Lion Invitational where the Bison will play 36 holes on Sunday and 18 on Monday at the Penn State Blue Course.
- The Bison will five players in the lineup this week: freshman Joelle Johnson, sophomore Sophia Bardunias, junior Katherine Vice, sophomore Katrina von Behren, and junior Lila Smith. Nicole Yun will compete as an individual. Â
- Bucknell opened its fall season with back-to-back tournament wins for the first time in program history. The Bison dominated at home in the Bucknell Invitational, defeating the field of 17 teams by 33 strokes. Bucknell then won by two strokes at the Battle at the Creek in a field of 15 teams with an 899.
- The Bison are most recently coming off of the Battle at the Creek where Johnson took second place with a six-over par finish. Bardunias took sixth place with a 12-over par finish and Vice finished 13-over to take seventh.
- Five of Bucknell's six rounds have ended below 900. Before this season, the Bison have only posted scores below 900 17 times in program history.
- As a team, the Bison set multiple records in a runaway win at the Bucknell Invitational. The Bison scored 590 after 36 holes to beat its 36-hole record by a stroke. The Bison then had a great final round as their 885 total smashed its 54-hole record by 11 strokes.
- Vice and Johnson finished the day at 10-over par for the tournament, heading into a friendly playoff. Vice took the match on the second playoff hole to win her first career tournament. Vice fired a team-low 71 (+1) on Sunday, grabbing an eagle on hole 15 and a birdie on hole 18 to get to 10-over par. Her 71 in the final round is a career-low for the junior and matched her career-best in relation to par. Vice shot 72-77-71 for the tournament.
- Johnson has finished both of Bucknell's tournaments in second place and is averaging a 72.5 over six rounds. Vice has finished in the top-10 of both tournaments and is averaging a 74.3 to start the season. Bardunias is averaging a 74.7 and has also finished in the top-10 of each tournament.
- Katrina von Behren and Lila Smith are both averaging a 76.8 through the first two tournaments.
- Bucknell heads to Annapolis, Maryland on Saturday, October 4 for a 36-hole tournament at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club.
