LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Sophia Bardunias collected this week's Patriot League Women's Golfer of the Week after a seventh-place finish this past weekend at the Nittany Lion Invitational at the Penn State Blue Course announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bison have swept the weekly awards thus far, going three-for-three on the achievement. Junior Katherine Vice took home the award in the first week and freshman Joelle Johnson earned the honor last week.
Vice and Johnson were the first players in team history to collect back-to-back weekly for the Bison and Bardunias continues the streak with her most recent award.
Bardunias became the sixth player in team history to card a single round at two-under par. Her 70 in the opening round also matches the third lowest score in team history. Her opening round featured two birdies and 16 pars. Through her first three tournaments and nine rounds, BArdunias has yet to card a double bogey.
Bardunias remained in the top-ten of the individual rankings for the entirety of the tournament. She posted a one-over round of 73 in the second round and carded a 76 in the third round to finish three-over for the 54-hole tournament.
The sophomore has been excellent through the first three tournaments. At the Bucknell Invitational, she tied for fourth and finished 13-over par. At the Battle at the Creek last weekend, she finished nine-over par to take seventh place. Bardunias now has nine career top-ten finishes, including six last season.
The Bison won each of the first two tournaments this season for their first back-to-back wins in program history. The Bison then took ninth at the Nittany Lion Invitational.
Bucknell is back in action at the Navy Fall Invitational on Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5.
