Bardunias Ties for Seventh as Women's Golf Ties for Ninth at the Nittany Lion Invitational

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Sophia Bardunias tied for seventh with a three-over par finish to lead the Bucknell women's golf team to a ninth-place finish at the Nittany Lion Invitational on Monday in a tough field of 16 teams.
Bucknell posted a 912 (308-302-302) for its best 54-hole finish at the Nittany Lion Invitational. The team's 302 is the second-best round in team history at the Penn State Blue Course.
Bardunias and Joelle Johnson each posted a round under par in the tournament. Bardunias posted a 70 in the first round, marking the sixth player in team history to achieve a two-under finish in a single round. Johnson carded a one-under 71 in her final round.
Bardunias sat at one-under heading into Monday's final round where she posted a 76 (+4). The sophomore stayed in the top ten in the standings and finished in a tie for seventh place at three-over for the tournament.
Playing as an individual, Nicole Yun also posted a 76 in her final round to finish 23rd. Yun carded 73-74-76 to finish seven-over par.
Johnson jumped up 19 spots on the final day to finish in 39th. Johnson got off to a rough start with an 84 in the first round, but shot 73 and a 71 to finish even over the final 36 holes.
Katrina von Behren finished tied for 60th with a 77-79-79. Katherine Vice and Lila Smith both tied for 73rd, finishing at 22-over par.
Host Penn State finished with an 878 over 54 holes to hold off Delaware by one stroke for the team title. Yale (880) and Maryland (881) also finished within three strokes of the lead. Yale's Mia Sessa was the medalist with a 5-under 211 (66-72-73). Maryland's Surapa Janthamunee was two shots back.Â
The Bison are back in action on Saturday, October 4 for a 36-hole tournament at the Navy Fall Invitational.
