Bucknell University Athletics
Update from Head Rowing Coach Steve Kish -- September 2024
Greetings from the Susquehanna River,
Â
The team is up and running and it has been a glorious first three weeks of the semester.
Â
We have welcomed ten recruited First-Years and they are proving to be a strong addition to the team. You can read about them here. Of special note is Enya Gilroy '28, who had an incredibly competitive summer of rowing, winning two gold medals at the CanAmMex regatta in Mexico City over the summer. You can read about her here.
Â
While the training and practice schedule has been relatively conservative, it has still been a busy start to the year. In addition to traveling off campus to Bucknell's Forest D. Brown Conference Center in Cowan for a cookout and an afternoon of games, the team has had the opportunity to connect with our Cognitive Performance Specialist, as well as representatives from the Career Advancement and Summer Study-Abroad offices. As importantly, we have advanced from two to three to four and now five days on the river each week, and the overall training schedule now includes six full-team sessions and two to three secondary sessions in small groups.
Â
The fall racing schedule is here, highlighted by our first-ever appearance at the Princeton Chase on November 3. Stay tuned for more information about how to find the team at our different events. Meanwhile, the novice program is off to a strong start with a great group of 30+ newcomers and we are looking forward to getting them ready for a novice extravaganza here at home on November 10.
Â
Warmest regards,
Coach Kish
