Update from Head Rowing Coach Steve Kish
Greetings from Lewisburg,
Â
The team finished the fall semester with a 3.47 GPA. After the December holidays, we traveled 28 women to Clemson, S.C., for ten days of training on Lake Hartwell before the start of the spring semester.
Â
I think I have been on close to 40 training trips, and this one was one of the best. Why? I can’t put my finger on it, but it has something to do with the nature and personality of this group. I am excited to see them develop and grow together over these next 15 weeks as they prepare for the Patriot League Championships on Friday, May 12.
Â
Meanwhile, due to some unexpected temperatures here in Pennsylvania, we came home to water instead of ice. True to form, the team was excited to adjust the weekly plan, and we spent these past two weekends rowing on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons. It was an excellent opportunity to make the most of what we worked on in Clemson.
Â
With colder temperatures on the way, we expect to be off the water for a month or more, but we’ll see!
Â
In closing, we have a significant 24-hour period approaching for our program. The annual One Herd One Day 24-Hour Giving Challenge will be on March 28-29 from 10:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. Our program has historically been very competitive with the sports across the athletic department during the challenge. I hope we can all come together in March to turn in another huge day for the women’s rowing program.
Â
I am looking forward to updating you all again before our spring break training camp.
