Dear Bucknell Volleyball Family and Friends,
Commencement is here! It has been a beautiful, sunny end of spring here in Lewisburg, and as we prepare to celebrate with our graduating seniors and bring a close to another school year, I would like to share one more update from Bison Volleyball.
Thank you, again, for your support during One Herd One Day in March! It was a record-breaking day for Bucknell Athletics, and we are so very appreciative of your generosity, which goes directly to providing a top-notch Bucknell Volleyball experience for our student-athletes. If you have not had a chance to make a gift yet this year or would like to make an additional gift, all donations received by June 30 will be included in this fiscal year!
The month of April was a busy one for our program, including practices going to the end of the month and three weekends of scrimmages. First, we traveled to Princeton and competed against Hofstra and Princeton. A few weekends later, we went to Ithaca, N.Y., and saw two Cornell squads, Binghamton, and Rochester. Finally, our spring season closed with a pair of matches at host Saint Francis and against Indiana University (PA). These competitions gave us a lot of opportunities to see several different line-ups and for our players to get back into game mode.
Also in April, it was great to see our graduating players again at the annual Bucknell University Athletics & Recreation Senior Recognition banquet. Cat Jamison won the Ronald J. “Pete” Pedrick Award, presented in recognition of demonstrated improvement and special contributions to Bucknell athletics over a four-year period. She capped her Bucknell Volleyball career with First Team All-Patriot League and Patriot League All-Academic Team honors last fall.
Our returning student-athletes are in the midst of final exams and will depart soon for the summer. When they return in early August, we will look forward to jumping right back into training and preparing for another successful season. We have preseason tournament trips to Niagara, William & Mary, and Binghamton before starting Patriot League play. Because of the Patriot League travel partners, we have a tough travel schedule this fall, but we also have a lot of returning experience, some eager first-year players, and big goals to attain. We look forward to seeing you in the stands of Davis Gym!
One more note: If you are a Bucknell alum and plan to attend Reunion Weekend at the end of the month, it would be great to meet up at Friday evening’s Bison Roundup!
As always, thank you for your support and enthusiasm!
Go Bison!!
