Update from Head Men's Soccer Coach Dave Brandt -- December 2024
Dear Bucknell Men’s Soccer Alumni, Parents, and Friends,
December greetings to all from the men’s soccer office at Bucknell. Most of you know we are coming off of a very important season for the program: Patriot League regular-season champions for the first time since 2009 and Patriot League Tournament champions and NCAA Tournament qualifiers for the first time since 2014. Of course, I am very proud of a team that has been a group entirely of fight and belief and has competed harder than anyone we play, which has made this historic season possible. It is a group of players who have represented Bucknell and Bucknell Athletics very well, and I hope all of you are proud to have them represent you too!
As we close out calendar year 2024 and look forward to 2025, a few things I am hoping all of you will take note of related to the program:
1. Importantly, an anonymous donor has stepped forward with a $100,000 match for any financial gifts given before February 26, 2025. This is an absolutely amazing opportunity for the program, and the vision and generosity of this person really blew us away. One of the express desires of the donor is not only that we find a way to max the match but also that the NUMBER of people willing to give to the program increases. If you are considering any calendar year-end gifts and would like to help the team, you can donate HERE.
2. Our annual Josh Butzke Memorial Golf Outing is on the books for FRIDAY, APRIL 25. Please mark the date on your calendars, and if you haven’t been out to this event before or haven’t been out for a few years, please consider it, as it is an excellent opportunity to reconnect with the program and old friends. Registration information will be made available shortly after the turn of the year, but for now, please note April 25 for golf!
3. Finally, from me personally, an enormous THANK YOU to all of you who have followed, encouraged, and/or given to the program over the last 12 months. It has been a GREAT 2024 for Bucknell Men’s Soccer, and the simple fact that all of you care about the program, remember it, and contribute in such positive and amazing ways is a HUGE boost to the guys who are part of it right now. So, again, THANK YOU to all, and best wishes for a great holiday season.
