Volleyball Dismantles Stonehill in Four Sets

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.- After a pair of sweeps on Friday, Bucknell Volleyball (2-4) rebounded on Saturday afternoon to down Stonehill (2-6) in four sets (25-18, 26-24, 16-25, 25-14) on the final day of the Boston College Invitational.

Stonehill actually collected more kills (55-52) but frittered away its advantage with a poor serving game. Bucknell collected 11 aces to Stonehill's three. The Skyhawks committed 13 service errors.

Cameron Lloyd switched back to outside hitter after spending 2025 as a steadfast libero. She combined both elements with a team-high 12 kills while shoveling 11 digs. Kaitlyn Taylor also posted a double-double with 11 kills and 13 digs. Both Lloyd and Taylor posted four aces.

Stonehill led 4-1 in the first set before the Bison rallied for a 7-1 run. Bucknell continued to stack points and kept the Skyhawks at bay. After Stonehill cut the lead to 21-18, head coach John Post called a timeout. The strategy worked as intended. A 4-0 Orange & Blue run won the set.

The second set started with Stonehill leading before the Bison again drew ahead. The Skyhawks regained the advantage at 18-16. Bucknell fought back and led 24-23. Stonehill tied the set but consecutive kills by Sidney Shaffer and Taylor gave the set to Bucknell.

Stonehill prevented a Bison sweep with a dominant 25-16 set three win. The Skyhawks again flew out to an early lead and this time prevented the Bison from stampeding back. Bucknell cut within three points but never inched closer.

Set three proved a temporary setback. The Bison, enraged by a sweep denial, roared through the fourth set, jumping to a 9-4 lead. Stonehill called a timeout, but Bucknell would not be stalled. A 17-9 Bison lead lured another timeout. It mattered not. A Katie O'Sullivan service ace ended the set and match.

Bucknell will complete non-conference play next weekend at the Siena Tournament.
