KENT, OHIO,- The rain fell on Sunday afternoon in Ohio and so did Bucknell (4-3), as the Bison dropped their third straight game in a 3-1 loss to Kent State (2-6). The Golden Flashes jumped to a 2-0 lead and held on for the non-conference victory. Ryane Fisahn scored her first goal of 2026 to cut the deficit in half but an insurance goal sealed Kent State's win.

Bucknell outshot Kent State 17-16 and generated four penalty corners to the Golden Flashes' one, but couldn't match the home team's efficiency.

Goalkeeper Sarah Althouse was under siege for most of the afternoon. She held up well against multiple attacks, notching eight saves, but ultimately faced too many one-on-one situations.

Kent State scored its first goal four minutes into the contest. Eva Usoz ntmegged Clara Espenshade, split two helping defenders, and shot past a charging Althouse for the opening tally.

The second goal arrived 13 minutes later on a fastbreak opportunity. Adelaide Gagnon cut in front of her defender and received the pass. She collected the ball and slammed it home for the 2-0 lead.

The Bison halved the deficit before halftime. Bucknell received a penalty corner opportunity and cashed in. Aubrey DelOrefice took the initial shot that deflected off the goalkeeper. Fisahn was alert, collared the ricochet, and slammed it home. The goal survived a video review and Bucknell had momentum.

The Golden Flashes' insurance goal came one minute into the final period. Maybritt Duwel maneuvered into the circle and fired. Althouse blocked the shot but Usoz collected the rebound and deposited it into the cage.

Bucknell advanced several threats in the final minutes. Kent State's defense stood firm and refused to allow a dramatic comeback.

The Orange & Blue return to Graham Field at Holmes Stadium for two games against reigning Patriot League champion Boston (Sept. 26) and Route 45 Rival Penn State (Sept. 28).
