BETHLEHEM, Pa.- Bucknell (5-6, 1-1 Patriot League) played hard but fell in a sweep (16-25, 20-25, 17-25) to Lehigh (8-1, 1-0 Patriot League) on Saturday afternoon. The Bison were unable to keep pace with a Mountain Hawk program that has been on fire to start the 2026 season.
Lehigh dominated offensively, collecting 42 kills to Bucknell's 28 and outhitting the Orange & Blue .311 to .107.
Sidney Shaffer led Bucknell with seven kills and three blocks. Stephanie Eroh provided six kills on a strong .500 hitting percentage.
Bucknell led 4-2 before a 7-0 Lehigh run handed the lead to the Mountain Hawks. The Bison inched as close as 17-12 before Lehigh used a 9-4 stretch to win the opening set.
The Bison tied the set twice in the early going but Lehigh swiftly broke away to clinch the stanza win. The Mountain Hawks kept stacking points to keep the Orange & Blue at bay. Bucknell occasionally strung a couple of points together, including a 4-0 run with the score at 24-16, but a final Lehigh kill ended the set.
In the third set, Bucknell repeated a 4-2 start before another lengthy Lehigh run separated the Mountain Hawks. The Orange & Blue could never inch closer than six points and Lehigh closed the set and match win.
Bucknell stays road bound to face Loyola (Md.) and Navy next weekend.
