Baseball Drops Midweek Contest to Mount St. Mary's

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell baseball team's 10-game winning streak came to an end in a 14-2 non-conference contest against Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday afternoon at Depew Field at Marren Park.
Ryan Facinelli hit his third homer of the season and Garrett Mathias extended his on-base streak to 28 games — all 28 games of the freshman's early career.
Mount St. Mary's (14-15) took a 12-0 lead after four innings, putting up crooked numbers in three of the first four innings. The Mount led 3-0 after two innings before a four-run third and a five-run fourth made it 12-0.
Facinelli smoked his home run to straightaway centerfield in the sixth inning in a pinch-hit at-bat. Mathias drove in Bucknell's (18-12) second run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Ryan DeLaney tossed 2.1 scoreless innings in relief, surrendering just a walk in his outing.
Mount Saint Mary's scored its 14 runs on 10 hits and made one error in the game. The Bison had six hits and made two errors. Bucknell left nine runners on base including seven in scoring position.
Bucknell continues its five-game home stand with a big four-game series against Holy Cross at Depew Field at Marren Park. Bucknell leads the Patriot League standings with Holy Cross just three games back. The series begins on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
