Bucknell Varsity Eight Named Patriot League Boat of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. – After winning both of its races last weekend in Philadelphia, the Bucknell Varsity Eight has been selected as the Patriot League Boat of the Week. The Bison went head to head with Drexel and George Washington – two programs that finished second in their respective conference championships last spring – and the 1V8+ claimed both races by open-water margins.
Bucknell's top boat started the day with a dominant 20-second win over Drexel, and then the crew came back in the afternoon and downed George Washington by seven seconds. The Bison improved their time from 6:32.29 in the morning to 6:29.3 in round two.
The 1V8+ was coxed by Hattie Hopper and stroked by Evelyn Sherman, with Logan Moore, Sadye Levensten, Caroline Cawley, Kalena Gatesman, Frances Butterfield, Callie VonderHaar, and Colby Bernhard rounding out the crew.
It was a strong day for the Bison, as the Second Varsity Eight also won both of its races, and the Third Varsity Eight defeated Drexel.
The Bison are back in action next Saturday and Sunday at the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River in New Jersey.
