Softball Drops Two to Boston

BOSTON, Mass.- Bucknell (5-25-1, 2-3 Patriot League) ran into a Boston buzz saw on Good Friday with the Terriers winning two run-rule games 15-0 (5) and 9-0 (5). Boston (28-11, 7-1 Patriot League) hit two grand slams on the day.
Game One Recap
Boston scored in every inning and rolled to the 15-0 (5) win in a run-rule game.
Sarah Zimmerman started in the circle and yielded two walks. A Megan Coyle triple scored two runs and Camryn Lyons singled home Coyle.
Coyle struck again in the second inning with a two-run single. Nina Barrouk replaced Zimmerman and allowed an RBI bunt single.
Boston added three more runs in the third inning. Kylie and Doherty slugged back-to-back RBI triples. Lyons delivered another RBI single.
The Terriers tagged Bison pitching for six runs in the fourth inning. Two walks and a hit by pitch set up Coyle's grand slam. Lyons then singled. Mea Consentino replaced Hale and allowed a two-run homer to Kyomi Apalit.
The Bison went down in order in the top of the fifth inning.
Game Two Recap
The Terriers only collected four hits but used another grand slam and seven walks to push across nine runs.
Avery Powers received the start for Bucknell.
Boston scored first in the second inning. Once again, a leadoff walk proved poisonous to Bucknell. Lyons walked the walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and moved to third on a fly ball. She scored on Addison Taft's throwing error.
The Terriers hit their second grand slam of the day in the third inning. A single and two walks provided Apalit with the opportunity and she delivered with a missile. Barrouk entered the circle in replacement of Powers.
The game got away in the fourth inning. Barrouk obtained two quick outs but then walked three straight batters. Coyle, Bucknelk's nemesis, stroked a two-run single. Lyons added another RBI single and Hale walked into the circle. A double steal resulted in a run scoring before the third out.
Bucknell could not extend the game in the top of the fifth inning.
