LEWISBURG, Pa.- Bucknell women's track & field posted multiple PRs and top ten on the first day of the Bison Classic, as one of the East Coast's largest events began with a bang. The Orange & Blue collected eight new top ten marks. The program celebrated Senior Day by honoring 19 remarkable student-athletes.Â

The mid-distance runners headlined the Bison effect, posting high finishes and multiple top ten times in Bucknell history. The group came out running as warm as the April sun and rewrote the Bucknell record book.Â
A pair of Bison, Katrina Torelli and Shaelan McNally, made history in the 1500-meter run. Torelli placed third, but the real prize was how her time of 4:24.81 moved the Orange & Blue junior into second all-time at Bucknell. McNally's time of 4:25.83 finished seventh and inserted the star sophomore into fourth at Bucknell. They were the first runner since Carly Forker in 2022 to etch their names in the top ten.Â
"I knew it was a group of well-coached athletes and my goal was to stick with them until the end," said Torelli. "By the last 100 meters, it was all grit."
Abigail Michaelson, usually handling sprinter duties, bumped up to the 800-meter run and finished 12th. The junior runner, who has been the breakout star in Bucknell's track segment, ran 2:11.53 - ninth at Bucknell for the event. She became the first Bison runner since Carly Forker in 2022 to enter the top ten for the 800-meter run.Â
Their distance cousins also made history. Caryn Rippey clinched third place in the endurance-testing 10,000-meter run. The senior posted a time of 34:42.16 - third in Bucknell history. Rippey started 13rd in the early going but by the 5600-meter mark found herself in third and held the position for the rest of the event.Â
"I was very happy going into and during the race," said Rippey. "There were some great girls to work with, and my teammates were very supportive, cheering for me every lap. My only goal was not to go out too fast and to hold my pace the whole race, but I ended up getting a lot faster towards the middle and end. It was amazing to do this on Senior Day and celebrate my senior year for myself and my teammates!
Three Bison recorded top ten marks in the 5000-meter run. Kailey Granger led the way, finishing 14th in 16:40.86 - fifth all-time at Bucknell. Kerry O'Day placed 15th and revised her standing in the Bucknell top ten from ninth to sixth with her time of 16:43.08. Meghan Rentner rounded out the trio, logging 16:45.24 for 17th in the event and seventh at Bucknell.
The throw groups, as always, provided solid showings and PRs. Justley Sharp, in her third competition since returning from injury, continued her progress to normal operating status, finishing second in the shot put. The junior juggernaut threw 14.90m (48-10.75) in her fifth attempt and had several other nice-looking throws disqualified by unlucky footwork. Madison Fowler placed fourth on a personal record toss of 14.46m (47-5.25). The sophomore hit on five of her six attempts and moved into fourth all-time at Bucknell.Â
Fowler also finished fourth in the discus, throwing 45.47m (149-2) for her second personal record. Julia Sobilo placed fifth, tossing 45.41m (148-11).Â
Jordan Muraglia notched 12th in the long jump. The freshman jumped 18-3.75 in her second attempt and narrowly missed inclusion in the finals.Â
Bucknell honored these 19 female seniors: Amanda Agambire, Alexa Andron, Madeline Barber, Ella Boback, Elizabeth Bryant, Tori Chace, Alison Cooke, Morgan DeWeese, Lauren Joyce, Madeline Lehker, Avery Rebar, Meghan Rentner, Caryn Rippey, Isabelle Roes, Lauren Shaffer, Aidan Smith, Brylee Tereska, Melissa Viellette, and Grace Vives.Â
The Bison Outdoor Classic continues tomorrow with the women's javelin featuring US National Champion Evelyn Bliss and three-time NCAA qualifier Tereska headlining a deep field.Â
