Adam Stavrakas Earns Patriot League Honors after 4-0 Weekend

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior Adam Stavrakas had not played a singles match in 49 days due to injury, but he returned in top form over the weekend, conceding only three games in a pair of straight-set wins over Loyola and Saint Francis. He also won both of his doubles matches, and on Wednesday he was selected as the Patriot League Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
In Bucknell's 7-0 sweep of Loyola in the Patriot League opener on Saturday in Baltimore, Stavrakas cruised past Ryan Gill 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Earlier in the day, he teamed with Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega for a 7-6 doubles win over Blake Edwards and Harris Zeiders.
A day later, the Bison defeated Saint Francis 6-1 at home, and Stavrakas again posted a pair of wins. He bested Blake Lorenzo 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and paired with Will Robinson for a 6-3 win over Mario Beckles and Noah Potts at No. 2 doubles.
Stavrakas, who won his fifth career PL Player of the Week citation, is now 12-7 in singles on the season. The Bison are 9-8 overall and 1-0 in the Patriot League heading into a home clash with Army on Saturday at 11 a.m.
