LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell baseball team fell 18-3 at Pittsburgh in seven innings on Wednesday afternoon at Charles L. Cost Field. Bucknell scored the first run of the ballgame, but Pitt used a big five-run third inning and a seven-run fourth inning to take the big win.

Andrew Swenson hit his first home run of the season in the fifth inning, and Chris Morabito and Michael Chiaravallo both drove in runs. The Bison scored their three runs on five hits. Pitt's 18 runs came on 13 hits. Michael Trommer tallied his fourth extra-base hit of the season, and Garrett Mathias, Morabito and Ty Lagoni all had a hit in the game.

After the Bison went on top in the first frame on Chiaravallo's RBI, the Panthers answered quickly with three runs in the bottom half to take the lead. A home run by AJ Nessler in the second inning extended the lead to 4-1.

Sebastian Pisacreta followed suit with a homer in the third inning, and Joey Baran hit a grand slam later in the inning to make it 9-1. Pitt's seven runs in the fourth came on four hits with two walks and three hit-batters.

Swenson's homer led off the fifth inning, but Pitt retired the next three Bison batters to halt any momentum. Morabito brought in another run in the sixth, but Pitt got two more in the bottom half of the inning.

Bucknell is back at Depew Field at Marren Park this weekend for the home-opening series against Merrimack. The series starts on Friday at 2 p.m.
