Bucknell at a Glance
• The Bison's 2025-26 regular season concludes with two duals at Columbia and Bloomsburg on Sunday. Bucknell resumes its old EIWA series with Columbia and then clashes with Bloomsburg in the I-80 Fight.Â
• Intermat ranked 50% of the Orange & Blue lineup in the latest revision. Myles Takats (174) rose to #18 after another 2-0 weekend. Noah Mulvaney (165) remained at #20. Dillon Bechtold (197) moved up to #26 after two solid victories. Dylan Chappell (141) increased from #31 to #29, despite his 0-1 weekend. Tyler Bienus (184) fell from #31 to #33 after dropping two matches. Bryce Manera (133) and Lucas Lawler (285) fell out of the rankings.Â
• Dylan Chappell (141) entered 2025-26 with 88 career wins and the fifth-year senior has won 17 matches this season. Chappell became the first Bison grappler to reach the 100-win milestone since Kurt Phipps (133) earned number 100 against No. 16 Anthony Noto (Lock Haven) on Jan. 30, 2025. He is one win away from tying for 11th in program history.Â
• Bucknell posted its third straight top 25 recruiting class, providing an even greater pool of talent for the program. The depth has been on display with the Bison taking nearly every ranked foe to the bitter end, routing Hofstra, LIU, and Morgan State, and performing well at the Navy Classic. At the Midlands Championships, the team finished third for its highest finish in program history at the competition.Â
• The Bison have needed every drop of depth with injuries and illness preventing the full lineup from competing together more than once.Â
• The second NCAA Top 33 Coaches Ranking were released on Feb. 12 and five Bison were included: Myles Takats (174) #21; Noah Mulvaney (165) #23; Dillon Bechtold (197) #26; Lucas Lawler (285) #26; Dylan Chappell (141) #27. The next rendition of the rankings will be released on Feb. 26.
• Despite an unfavorable W-L record, Bucknell sits at 99-81 in matches during duals and has outscored opponents 385-293.Â
• Noah Mulvaney (165) is 22-5 in matches and a sparkling 16-2 in duals this season.
• Head coach Dan Wirnsberger is in his 21th year leading the program since its revival in 2005.Â
A Look Back at the Lehigh/American Duals
• Bucknell fell in a 21-16 heartbreaker to in-state rival Lehigh in the annual Keystone Clash. The Mountain Hawks were limited by injuries but the Bison could not take advantage.Â
• The Orange & Blue led 9-8 after four bouts with No. 33 Bryce Manera (133) forcing an injury default and Braden Bower (149) winning a decision. Bucknell suffered a major loss when No. 31 Dylan Chappell was upset by unranked Seamus Mack. Lehigh's typical 141-pound wrestler (ranked fifth nationally) was injured.
• Lehigh regained the lead and led 18-13 heading into the 197-bout.Â
• No. 28 Dillon Bechtold (197) edged No. 26 JT Davis on riding time in a tiebreaker, setting up a winner-take-all match at heavyweight.
• No. 29 Lucas Lawler (285) fought valiantly but lost 8-5 to No. 6 Nathan Taylor.Â
• Bucknell rallied from a 15-0 deficit to edge EIWA foe American 22-21 on Senior Day.Â
• The Eagles flew to a 15-0 after three bouts on two pins and a decision.Â
• Riley Bower (149) celebrated his Senior Day with a decision win to stem the bleeding.Â
• Bucknell rattled off four straight wins, highlighted by No. 20 Noah Mulvaney's (165) pin and No. 19 Myles Takats' (174) tech fall for the 17-15 lead.Â
• After American moved ahead 18-17, No. 28 Dillon Bechtold (197) earned a tech fall for the 22-18 Bucknell advantage.Â
• The bonus points proved decisive as American won the heavyweight match in a decision but the Bison prevailed 22-21.Â
Scouting Columbia/Series History
• The Lions are 10-3 overall and 5-0 in Ivy League competition, winning the regular season crown. Â
• Columbia has defeated #22 Cornell and #22 Penn. The Ivy League school is the first team out in receiving votes.Â
• Intermat ranks six Columbia wrestlers.Â
• Projected lineups have five ranked matches.Â
• Columbia defeated Bucknell 25-16 last year in Davis Gym.Â
• The Bison lead the all-time series 9-8 but the Lions have won three straight.Â
Scouting Bloomsburg/Series History
• The Huskies played an ambitious and beefy schedule and sit at 10-17 overall and 0-7 in MAC play.Â
