Women's Basketball Heads to Massachusetts to Face Holy Cross Saturday

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell women's basketball is back on the road for the final time of the regular season as it heads to Massachusetts to take on Holy Cross in Hart Center Arena. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21.
Holy Cross is currently leading the series 54-26 and are on a seven-game winning streak over Bucknell with the last Bison win coming in 2022. Earlier this season, the Crusaders took down Bucknell in Sojka by just three points. This will be the 71st meeting between the two teams since they first faced off in 1991.

- In addition to Woodruff and returning assistant coaches Edward Joyner Jr. and Shelby Case, the Bison had two new additions to their coaching staff in the off-season. Lauren Holden joined the Bison as the associate head coach and Danielle Patterson joined Bucknell as an assistant coach.
Holy Cross at a Glance
- The Crusaders come into the contest 17-9 overall and 11-4 in the Patriot League as they extended their winning streak to three with a victory over Lafayette on Wednesday.
- The only four conference losses that Holy Cross has this season came at the hands of Lehigh twice, Navy and Army.
- In their last time out, the Crusaders used a dominant fourth quarter to pull away from Lafayette in a 70-48 victory over the Leopards on Saturday afternoon at the Hart Center Arena in Worcester. Holy Cross held a 41-33 lead after three before outscoring the Leopards by a 29- 15 margin in the fourth quarter en route to the win. Junior Kendall Eddy led the hosts with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while seniors MaryElizabeth Donnelly added 12 and Simone Foreman contributed 11 of her own.Teresa Kiewiet paced Lafayette with 11 points in the setback.
- Meg Cahalan leads the Crusaders in scoring with 15.3 points per game.
- Simone Foreman leads the team in rebounds with 7.3 per game.
- Kaitlyn Flanagan leads Holy Cross in assists with 3.8 per game.
- Kendall Eddy leads the team in steals with 2.2 per game.
Bucknell's Last Time Out
- An impressive third quarter of all-around play lifted Bucknell women's basketball to a 58-45 victory over American in Bender Arena. After a back-and-forth first half with several lead changes, the Bison out-scored the Eagles 21-11 in the third quarter to gain the momentum needed to break their two-game losing streak.
- Bucknell's defense came up big in the contest as it limited American to just 22 points in the second half and limited its leading scorer, Molly Driscoll, to just 11 points in the game. Prior to this contest, the guard averaged 12.5 per game. The Eagles also played without a key part of their offense in Lexi Salazar who was not available.
- The first quarter was a story of runs and lead changes as Bucknell edged out American 13-11 thanks to a flurry of threes from Tuana Coskun, Reese Zemitis and Isabella Casey. The second quarter went American's way as it out-scored the Bison 12-7 to take a three-point lead into halftime, with Charlotte Tuhy notching eight points in the quarter for the Eagles. Bucknell took hold of the game in the third quarter as it out-scored AU 21-11 to take a 41-34 lead heading into the final ten minutes of play. Bucknell limited the Eagles to 11 points once again in the fourth quarter as its defense stepped up to allow the offense to play more freely, putting up 17 points to secure the conference win.
- Coskun led the way for Bucknell after being limited to just three points in the first half. The junior ended the game with 19 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field, 2-of-6 shooting from three and 1-of-1 shooting from the free-throw line. She also led the team in steals with two. Reese Zemitis also recorded double-digit points with 13 on 3-of-10 shooting from the field, 3-of-9 shooting from three and 4-of-4 shooting from the free-throw line. Mariah Hardy ended the night with seven points and three rebounds. She shot 3-of-7 from the field. Isabella Casey finished with six points and Kaila Richards, Ella Kreuzer and Desirae Ashton rounded out the group with one bucket apiece.
- Zemitis and Anna Kunzwiler led the team in rebounds with seven apiece. Kunzwiler also played an integral role in the offense as she notched seven points on 3-of-5 shooting from the field and 1-of-3 shooting from three, with all of her points coming in important moments. Kunzwiler also led the team in assists with four. Ashton led Bucknell in blocks with two in the game.
