LIVE SCORING
About the Bison
- Bucknell's spirits are high as it gets set to host its annual fall tournament. The three-day, 54-hole event runs from Sunday through Tuesday.
- The Bison are coming off its first tournament title in five years after claiming Binghamton's Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational on Monday at the Links at Hiawatha Landing. Bucknell has played well in two of its three outings thus far. The Bison finished a solid fifth in a strong 13-team field at Colgate to start the year, and then after struggling at Navy, they bounced bested another 13-team field last week.
- Bucknell's first win since 2021 came in come-from-behind fashion. The Bison trailed La Salle by seven shots entering the final round but outscored the Explorers 298-309 to win by four.
- Freshmen Charlie Barrickman (68-74) and Brad McDermott (70-75) were the low Bison for the week, and both received honors for their efforts. Barrickman was in contention for the individual crown before finishing third, and he was named Patriot League Golfer of the Week on Wednesday. On Monday, McDermott was selected as the Bison of the Week in recognition of his fifth-place finish. He entered the tournament with a 77.7 average before finishing +1 over 36 holes. Barrickman's 4-under 68 was his season best.
- Barrickman has broken par in four of his eight rounds this fall and leads the team with 26 birdies and a 71.8 scoring average. He also captured Patriot League weekly honors after his season-opening win at Colgate.
- Senior Taylor Kuehn is also coming off a top-10 finish (T-9th, 73-74) at Binghamton, and he ranks second on the squad with a 74.0 average. Barrickman, McDermott, and Kuehn will occupy the top three spots this week, with freshman Conner Freedman and sophomore Henry Bolster joining them on the A squad. Jaxon Brown, Jack Hartman, and Hunter Duncan will play as individuals. Duncan will be making his season debut as he recovers from an injury.
- Barrickman is just the second Bucknell freshman ever to win a tournament, and the first to do it in his collegiate debut. His first-round, 3-under 69 at Colgate was the lowest in relation to par by a Bison freshman in his first career round. He started the final round two shots off the lead, and then battled a pair of Seton Hall players all day for the top spot. Barrickman, who qualified for the U.S. Amateur Championship earlier this summer, began on the sixth hole and jumped out to a par-birdie-birdie start. He bogeyed the ninth, but that was his only blemish of the day. He ended a string of eight straight pars with a birdie at the par-5 18th to grab a one-shot lead over Will Hennessee. Still sitting on that slim lead heading into his final hole, Barrickman closed with a birdie while Hennessee parred his final hole, giving the Bison rookie a two-shot win. He earned Patriot League Golfer of the Week and Bison of the Week honors for his efforts.
- The Bison have won their home tournament seven times, including four straight titles from 2007-10, Bucknell also won this event in 1981, 2003, and 2004.
- Bison winning individual titles include Rob Wagner in 1981, Kyle Moran in 2004, Stuart Lindgren in 2007, Jeff Pike in 2008, Andrew Cohen in 2009, and Dan Bernard in 2012.
- Youngstown State is the defending champion, winning last year with a 54-hole total of 857 (292-277-288).
- The tournament record for low team 54 holes is 1-under 839 (Colgate 2023). Low individual 18 is a 6-under 64 from Monmouth's Ron Robinson in 2021, and the low individual 54 is a 7-under 203 (66-70-67) from LIU's Lewis Wright in 2023.
- Bucknell has one event remaining in the fall campaign. The Bison will be in the field for the Delaware Invitational Oct. 19-20 at Wyncote Golf Club.
