Navy Outlasts Men's Water Polo, 18-14

ANNAPOLIS, Md.- Bucknell men's water polo (4-9, 1-3 MAWPC) fell 18-14 to the Navy Midshipmen (12-6, 5-0 MAWPC) on Sunday morning. The two teams were evenly matched until the Mids forged ahead in the third quarter and never relinquished their lead, despite a frantic Bison rally.

Aleksa Stefanovic led Bucknell with six goals and David Dumitru recorded 14 saves in the cage.

Bucknell grabbed the early 2-1 and 3-2 leads - the last time the Bison would pace the game. Navy counterattacked and led 4-3 as the time drained away.

Navy expanded its lead to 6-3 early in the second quarter before the Orange & Blue rallied for the 6-6 tie. The Mids scored twice and both times the Bison answered. Navy added a third goal before halftime for the 8-7 advantage.

Bucknell again tied the game at 8-8 before the Mids used a 3-0 run to create separation. The Bison cut the score within 11-10 before the Mids sailed away again for the 14-10 lead.

Bucknell had one last run, slicing the deficit to 14-13, but Navy ended the game on a 4-1 run.

The Bison return to Kinney next Saturday to face George Washington in MAWPC action at 2 p.m.
