Women’s Soccer Comes Back to Earn Road Point at Holy Cross
9/27/2025 4:11:00 PM | Women's Soccer
WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman Gaby Parker's second goal in as many games helped the Bucknell women's soccer team to a 1-1 draw at Holy Cross on Saturday at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. Down a goal entering the second half, the Bison found an equalizer on the hour mark and remained unbeaten at 1-0-1 in the early stages of Patriot League play.
Bucknell was faced with a tough road test against a Crusaders side that is now 3-1-3 in its last seven games after an 0-3-1 start to the season. Holy Cross goalkeeper Aubrey Haesche had only conceded five goals in nine starts and led the Patriot League in both goals-against average (0.61) and save percentage (.898), so finding a goal after falling behind early was a tough task.
Henna Andican set it in motion in her own half of the field when she shielded off her mark to receive a throw-in, then spun by her on the touch line. Andican played a long ball down the left sideline for Parker, who maneuvered around two defenders at the top edge of the area. Parker's shot took an early deflection and eventually spun across the line for her third goal of the season. She also scored in last week's 2-0 win at Lehigh.
Holy Cross' goal was credited to Sam Halligan in the 23rd minute. Halligan received an outswinging corner kick near the 18, and her shot through traffic also went in off a deflection inside the six.
"Holy Cross is a tough team to play; they are physical and play with tons of passion and heart," said head coach Kelly Cook. "I was proud of our team showing a lot of fight to come back and get a point on the road. I thought we moved the ball much better in the second half and created some more chances."
Reese Dolan finished with four saves for the Bison, including a big one on a dangerous free kick with about 45 seconds remaining in the match. Haesche finished with five saves as Holy Cross held a 14-11 shot advantage. The Bison led 7-3 in corner kicks.
After playing its first two Patriot League matches on the road, Bucknell returns home to face Lafayette on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
