LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior wing back Jack Lucas collected the Bucknell men's soccer team's first weekly award of the season as he was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Bucknell's top point scorer and goal scorer from last season opened his account with two incredible goals that played important roles in both of Bucknell's wins over No. 23 Hofstra and St. Bonaventure as the Bison are 2-0 to start the 2025 campaign.
Against the three-time defending CAA champions in Hofstra, Lucas scored a 75th minute match winning goal as the Bison completed a come-from-behind win over the Pride, 2-1. Lucas settled down a headed clearance just outside of the box, and quickly fired a scorcher into the top right corner.
Lucas was on the score sheet again in Bucknell's home opener against St. Bonaventure, scoring an early second half equalizer to level the match 2-2. Lucas earned a free kick after beating his defender on a dribble. He then buried the free kick off of the near post and into the back of the net. The Bison went on to defeat the Bonnies on junior Jakub Samelko's last-minute goal. Â
Lucas has been dangerous on the attack early in the season, firing six shots through the first two games with four shots on target. This was Lucas' second Patriot League weekly award, taking home a Patriot League Midfielder of the Week award last season.Â
