RESULTS
YORK, Pa. -- Bucknell freshman Jack Hartman carded a 3-under-par 67 to gain a share of medalist honors at Thursday's U.S. Open local qualifier at Country Club of York. Hartman was one of four players in the field of 75 to advance to sectional qualifying in June.
Hartman, who just last weekend earned First Team All-Patriot League and Patriot League Rookie of the Year honors, tied Jason Li for the top spot with rounds of 67. Garrett Engle and Alex Blickle also made the cut with 1-under 69s.Â
After making the turn at even par, Hartman made his move by holing out for eagle on the par-4 11th hole. He added back-to-back birdies at 14 and 15 to get to 4-under before giving a shot back at the long par-3 17th. The Bethesda, Md., native is no stranger to national championships. He played in the 2022 U.S. Junior Amateur and finished third at the 2023 Middle Atlantic Amateur. A year ago, Hartman lost in a playoff for the final qualifying spot at the U.S. Open local qualifier at Hillendale Country Club, and now he has taken the next step toward a spot in the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club in Western Pennsylvania.Â
