Water Polo Edged 11-7 by #20 Brown

ANN ARBOR, Mich.- Bucknell women's water polo (14-11, 4-7 CWPA) concluded the CWPA Crossover at Michigan with a narrow 11-7 defeat to No. 20 Brown (16-12, 7-4 CWPA). The Bison kept within striking distance of the Bears but never inched closer than a single goal margin. Olivia Hopper led Bucknell with three goals.Â
The Bears scored twice in the first quarter while holding Bucknell scoreless.Â
The Bison offense found the cage when Hopper scored twice. Brown equaled the star freshman's effort. Caitlin Stott provided a net-hitter, but Brown scored seven seconds before halftime for the 5-3 lead.Â
Hayden Hedstrom delivered a tally, cutting the deficit to 5-4. Brown answered back and so did Olivia Hopper for her third goal. The goal awakened the Bears and Brown ended the quarter on a 3-0 run.Â
The run extended to 4-0 before Boati Motau ended the streak with a goal. Gwen Kallmeyer added a tally but the Bison were held scoreless for the rest of the game and Brown added an insurance goal for the 11-7 victory.Â
Bucknell returns home on April 12 for the regular season finale and Senior Day against CWPA foe Princeton. The Bison will honor three seniors, Sidney Finkler, Izzy Lippolis, and Boati Motau.
