Bucknell Falls 14-8 on Senior Day to #10 Princeton

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Bucknell (14-12, 4-8 CWPA) gave No. 10 Princeton a tough fight on Senior Day but the Bison fell 14-8 to the veteran and nationally-ranked foe on Saturday afternoon.Â
Three Bison players scored two goals, including two seniors, Sidney Finkler and Boati Motau. Freshman star Olivia Hopper was the final two-score tallier, serving a metaphoric bookend.Â
The first quarter was a high-scoring affair with the teams combining for eight goals. Motau opened the scoring, but Princeton ran off a 5-0 run, establishing firm control of the contest. Finkler broke the streak with her first goal and Princeton ended the period with an answer.Â
Olivia Hopper tallied Bucknell's lone score in the second quarter. Princeton added three goals for the 9-3 halftime lead.Â
The Bison outscored Princeton 3-2 in the third period. Finkler and two freshmen, Hayden Hedstrom and Ashley Hopper, combined to boost the Bucknell attack, and provide some momentum into the fourth stanza.Â
Princeton derailed any comeback hopes by grabbing three goals to Bucknell's two. Olivia Hopper and Motau each scored a goal but the Bison fell in its eighth conference game.Â
Bucknell honored three seniors, Finkler, Izzy Lippolis, and Motau before the game.Â
The Bison are the fifth seed in the CWPA Championships and will face fourth seed Brown at 7:30 p.m. on April 25.Â
