BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bucknell men's tennis team cruised to a 4-0 win over Lafayette on Sunday evening in a match played indoors at Lehigh's Lewis Indoor Tennis Center. The Bison won the doubles point and then took three straight-set wins in singles to improve to 14-6 overall and 4-1 in the Patriot League.
The No. 3 doubles tandem of Nelson Alapi and Liam Kilmer clinched the doubles point after the teams split in the top two spots. Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega and Adam Stavrakas were also victorious on Court 2.
Stavrakas got singles play started with his 20th consecutive victory. He improved to 31-3 on the season and 20-0 in dual matches with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Nicolas McKenzie that lasted only 45 minutes.
Bain was next off the courts with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Jake Magnusson at No. 4 singles, and then Amar Tahirovic secured the clinching fourth point with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Arman Ganchi at No. 1. Tahirovic has now won 10 straight and improved to 28-3 on the full season and 17-1 in dual matches.
Bucknell will be back at Lehigh next Saturday to face both the Mountain Hawks and Holy Cross.
