Women's Lacrosse Begins Florida-Stint Against Xavier

ÂBucknell at a Glance
- The Bison are currently on a two-game winning streak after defeating Kent State and Mount St. Mary's last week. Bucknell has a winning 3-2 record heading into its Florida slate of games. First up in Florida for the Bison are Xavier on Friday, March 7 at 4 p.m.
- Junior defender Catherine Dineen was last week's Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week with her performance against Kent State and Mount St. Mary's having six ground balls and five caused turnovers while being part of a defense that only allowed 13 goals in two games.
- Taylor McClain notched one goal and one assist against Mount St. Mary's giving her her 100th career point (29 goals and 71 assists).
- The top three point grabbers for Bucknell are Taylor McClain with 13 (3 goals and ten assists), Allie Boyce with 11 (ten goals and one assist) and Alex Nesbitt with 11 (seven goals and four assists). Boyce leads the scoring for the Bison with ten goals and Kat Reynolds, Nesbitt and Sheridan follow closely with seven each.Â
- After going 1-1 to open its season on home turf, Bucknell came out swinging offensively against Kent State and most recently showed its defensive prowess against Mount St. Mary's, defeating the Mount 8-7.
- Caroline Sheridan continued her hot scoring streak from the game against Kent State, adding two more goals to her tally bringing it to seven on the season.Â
- Alex Nesbitt also found the back of the net twice and four other players notched goals in the contest. One of the four was Allie Boyce, who was guarded well by Mount St. Mary's and didn't have too many opportunities at the net, but capitalized when she could, bringing her one goal away from breaking into the top-five in career goals at Bucknell.Â
- For Bucknell, Taylor McClain notched a goal and one assist, giving her 100 career points (29G, 71A) and bringing her one away from breaking into the top three in career assists for the Bison.Â
- The Bison struggled once again on draw controls only having five to the Mount's 13, but Bucknell's defense alleviated the damage as they caused 10 turnovers on the afternoon to Mount St. Mary's seven, and the Bison only turned over the ball 15 times to the Mount's 19. Bucknell also nudged out Mount St. Mary's in ground balls having 19 to their 14.
- Both teams were stellar on the clears as Bucknell went 20-for-21 and Mount St. Mary's had a perfect 18-for-18 on the afternoon.Â
Xavier at a Glance
- Xavier is 0-3 overall on the season. The Musketeers have opened its season with three straight losses to Akron (15-6), Cincinnati (18-11) and most recently Duke (16-9)
- The top three point grabbers for Xavier are Lola Mancuso with nine (seven goals and two assists), Julie Cassidy with five (four goals and one assist) and Megan Droney with four (two goals and two assists).
- Teegan Lannon is the starting goalie for the Musketeers and has a goals against average of 18.72 and a save percentage of .344. Jada Brandon has seen a total of 45 minutes in two games and has a goals against average of 9.25 and a save percentage of .563.
- The Musketeers are 42-59 on the clear, having a .712 clear percentage.Â
- Xavier has 48 draw controls to their opponents 38. Morgan Handzel is the Musketeers main draw taker and she has 23 draw controls.Â
The Bucknell-Xavier Series
- Friday will be the first time that Bucknell and Xavier compete in women's lacrosse.
- The Bison will look to begin the series with the Musketeers on a high-note grabbing the first win.
