RESULTS
GRASONVILLE Md. – Sophia Bardunias and the Bucknell women's golf squad finished in a share of the individual and team leads at the conclusion of the Prospect Bay Intercollegiate on Sunday, and they earned runner-up honors on tiebreaker procedures.
The Bison made up an eight-shot deficit on 36-hole leader LIU and tied the Dolphins for the top spot with 938 totals. The championship was decided on fifth-player score, and LIU won it with an 81 compared to Bucknell's 82.
Likewise, Bardunias finished in a three-way tie atop the individual leaderboard. Bardunias, LIU's Vanessa Moreno Reyes, and Sacred Heart's Jessie Burch all finished with 230 composites, and Moreno Reyes was named medalist on a match of cards, thanks to a par-birdie finish.
Paige Richter had a big way with a 1-over-par 73, and she finished alone in fourth place, just one shot out of that three-way tie for the lead. Richter, who made a birdie and 15 pars on Sunday, matched Burch and Siena's Julia Kret for the low round of the weekend.
In addition to Richter's 73 and Bardunias' 76, the Bison also counted a 78 from Nicole Yun and an 80 from Katherine Vice.
Bucknell looks to build on the strong performance next weekend at Youngstown State's spring tournament.
