
Women's Tennis Earns First Patriot League Win

Lewisburg, Pa. - Bucknell women's tennis earned its first Patriot League win on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Loyola 6-1 at the Varsity Tennis Courts. The Bison move to 6-8 overall and 1-2 in the Patriot League with the win.Â
Bucknell opened the match with doubles victories on Court 1 and Court 2 to earn the doubles point. Whitney King and Abby Platt defeated Lauren Manwiller and Emma Roeck 6-3 and Anna Lajos and Jaycie Mair defeated Jessica Bodewes and Christine Richiez 7-5.Â
In singles play, the Bison took five of the six matches. W.King defeated Richiez 6-5, 6-1, Platt defeated Hartley 6-1, 6-2, Lajos defeated Mia Matriccino 6-4, 7-5, Tori Allen defeated Manwiller 6-3, 6-4 and Riley Jennings defeated Bodewes in a battle of three sets on Court 6 to finish off Loyola. The Greyhounds took one singles match on Court 5 in three sets.Â
Bucknell will play again on the Varsity Tennis Courts on Sunday, March 30 at 10 a.m. as they take on Saint Joseph's.
