RESULTS
CHERRY HILL, N.J. – The Bucknell rowing team made its 2025 spring debut on Saturday with four boats in action at the Doc Hosea Invitational on the Cooper River. Highlighting the early season action for the Bison was the Second Varsity Eight qualifying for the Grand Final and finishing in fourth place in a strong field. That was the best-ever finish for any Bucknell crew at the Doc Hosea, and the team's sixth-place finish in the final points tally was also its best at this event.
Bucknell's 2V8+, led by coxswain Katie Lash and first-year stroke Enya Gilroy, finished third in its heat behind Rutgers and Navy. The Bison were the No. 6 qualifier, and they came back in the Grand Final to place fourth in 6:51.563, about a second faster than their prelim time. Bucknell placed behind Rutgers, Penn, and Northeastern and just ahead of Navy and Drexel.
Bucknell's three other boats all rowed in Petite Finals, with both fours winning those races. The Varsity Four missed the Grand Final by just one place and then won its Petite Final by nearly five seconds over runner-up Rhode Island, with Eastern Michigan, Temple, Villanova, and Saint Joseph's well back.
The 2V4+ also missed the Grand Final by just one place and then ran away from Navy and Rhode Island in the Petite Final.
Bucknell's Varsity Eight was the runner-up to Georgetown in the Petite Final. The Bison finished in 6:45.581, which was 11 seconds faster than their morning prelim.
The Bison will be back in action next Saturday at the Saint Joseph's Invitational on Overpeck Creek in Leonia, N.J.
