Women's Lax Faces South Florida for the First Time Tuesday

- The Bison are currently on a three-game winning streak after defeating Kent State, Mount St. Mary's and Xavier in a row. Bucknell has a winning 4-2 record heading into its next contest which is when they are at South Florida on Tuesday, March 11 at 6 p.m.
- Junior defender Catherine Dineen was last week's Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week with her performance against Kent State and Mount St. Mary's having six ground balls and five caused turnovers while being part of a defense that only allowed 13 goals in two games.
- The top-three point grabbers for Bucknell are Allie Boyce with 15 (14G and 1A), Taylor McClain with 14 (3G and 11A) and Megan Krestinski and Alex Nesbitt each have 11 (7G and 4A each).
- After going 1-1 to open its season on home turf, Bucknell is on a three-game winning streak with its last win coming against Xavier where the Bison won 12-8.
- A six-goal unanswered streak in the second quarter proved to be what separated Bucknell from Xavier in its 12-8 victory on Friday at the University of South Florida.Â
- The go-ahead goal in the six-goal unanswered streak not only gave the Bison a 5-4 lead, but it also served as a go-ahead goal for Allie Boyce as it officially earned her a share of fourth place in career goals at Bucknell. She didn't stop there however as she notched two more goals before the end of the game to give her an outright hold of third place in Bucknell history in career goals with 130 total.Â
- Boyce wasn't the only player to hit the top of the Bucknell record books in this game. Taylor McClain notched her 72nd assist, which earned her a share of third place all-time at Bucknell with Melissa Montefusco '02.Â
- The first quarter of play was a back-and-forth game with Bucknell trying to catch up to Xavier throughout the first fifteen minutes, and the Bison saw themselves down by one goal heading into the second. The second quarter began with a Xavier goal, but the Bison bucked up and scored six unanswered goals to end the half in the lead by four. The third quarter read like the first, but this time the Bison outscored the Musketeers 3-2. In the fourth, Xavier began a late comeback as they scored two goals back-to-back within the last two minutes, but the charge would come too late for the Musketeers and Bucknell took the victory 12-8.Â
- Bucknell goalie Colleen Kazanjian played the full sixty minutes and had seven saves in the game. The Bison were also successful on the clear as they went 21-25.
South Florida at a Glance
- South Florida is on a two-game winning streak with wins over St. Bonaventure and Xavier. Most recently the Bulls defeated Xavier 20-4 at home.Â
- The top-three point grabbers for USF are Sofia Chepenik with 29 (21G and 8A), Maggie Newton with 21 (15G and 6A) and Juliana George with 21 (12G and 9A).
- Paige Pagano is the Bulls starting goalie. She has a goals against average of 9.23 and a save percentage of .524.Â
- In their contest against Xavier, South Florida hit a new program record for goals scored with 20 and set a new best in fewest goals allowed with four, making it their largest margin of victory in program history.
- The Bulls are 110-130 in clears, having an 84.6% success rate.Â
- Kali Cleary has been the most successful Bull on the draw having 19 draw controls through seven games played.Â
The Bucknell-South Florida Series
- Tuesday will be the first time that Bucknell and Xavier compete in women's lacrosse.
- The Bison will look to begin the series with the Bulls on a high-note grabbing the first win.
