Bucknell at a Glance
- The Bison women's tennis squad heads south for a pair of contests at Division III power Washington & Lee and Towson this weekend.
- In their lone dual last week, Bucknell dropped a hard-fought 5-2 decision to Hofstra at the Central PA Tennis Center. Whitney King (1) and Tori Allen (4) earned straight-set singles wins, and Cameron King and Anna Lajos were 6-4 winners at No. 2 doubles. Three of Hofstra's four singles wins were decided in the third set, and the doubles point was decided in a tiebreaker at No. 3.
- Natalie Devraj (7-1), Cameron King (7-2), and Whitney King (7-3) share the team lead with seven singles wins apiece. Mirra Manolov (6-5) is next with six.
- Whitney King and Abby Platt are 3-1 in duals at No. 1 doubles, and the duo is 7-4 on the full season.
- The Bison now have combined team records of 43-35 (.551) in singles and 22-16 (.579) in doubles dating back to the start of the fall.
- Whitney King continues to climb Bucknell's career wins charts. She now ranks 14th in singles wins with 55, seventh in doubles wins with 69, and eighth in combined wins with 124.
- The Generals, ranked No. 10 in Division III by the ITA, will be in action for the first time in 2025 when they host Bucknell on Friday. Washington & Lee posted a pair of 7-0 wins over ODAC rivals Randolph-Macon and Virginia Wesleyan back in September.
- Washington & Lee went 21-2 and captured its 21st straight ODAC championship last season. The ninth-ranked Generals swept UT Dallas in the NCAA Division III Round of 32 before falling to No. 7 Johns Hopkins in the final 16.
- The Generals return three of their five all-conference players from last season, including 2024 ODAC Player of the Year Lauren Long, who also qualified for the NCAA DIII Singles Championship.Â
- The Tigers bring a 1-1 dual-match record into Saturday's contest. They defeated Rider 5-2 in the fall and lost 7-0 to Richmond last Sunday.
- Freshman Kiersten Tambe is the team's No. 1 player.
- In the fall, Tambe, Ashira Murray, Chandre Boshoff, and Gaia Montecchi qualified for the ITA Atlantic Regional Championship.
- Following this weekend's action, the Bison will be back on the road next Friday, Feb. 14, at Marist at 7 p.m.
