Women’s Tennis Drops 5-2 Verdict at Washington & Lee

LEXINGTON, Va. – Jaycie Mair was a straight-set winner at No. 5 singles and Bucknell claimed the doubles point, but the Bison fell 5-2 at Division III power Washington & Lee on Friday. The Generals, ranked No. 10 nationally in D-III, have won 21 straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference championships.
Bucknell claimed victories at first and third doubles to get off to a strong start. Whitney King and Abby Platt were 6-1 winners in the top spot, and Tori Allen and Natalie Devraj took a 6-2 verdict at No. 3.
Mair was a 6-0, 7-6 winner over Mary Kate Kahl at fifth singles. Allen at No. 3 and Devraj at No. 6 both extended their matches to a fifth set, but the Generals captured the other five singles tilts.
Bucknell (1-4) is back in action on Saturday at Towson at 6 p.m.
