Water Polo Drops Two Games to Ranked Foes

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- Bucknell women's water polo (9-3, 2-2 CWPA) saw its nine-game winning streak snapped and its undefeated conference record blemished after two confrontations with ranked CWPA foes, #13 Princeton (6-2, 2-1 CWPA) and #19 Harvard (9-1, 3-0 CWPA). The Tigers clawed the Bison 19-5 and the Crimson won 18-4 in Saturday action.Â
Princeton Recap
Olivia Hopper tallied a game-high four goals but the Tigers used a balanced attack to defeat the Bison.Â
Hopper scored twice in the first quarter but Princeton doubled up her efforts to take the lead.Â
Gwen Kallmeyer and Hopper scored back-to-back goals in the second period to cut the deficit to 6-4. Princeton responded with a 4-0 run to end the quarter.Â
The Tigers outscored Bucknell 7-0 in the third quarter to seal the win.Â
Princeton scored twice in the final period before Hopper ended the game at 19-5 with a final cage-finder.Â
Harvard Recap
Olivia Hopper's two goals were not enough in Bucknell's loss. Harvard had ten different players record a goal.Â
The Crimson led 5-0 after the first quarter and were never threatened by the Bison.Â
Harvard went up 7-0 before Hopper's second quarter goal broke their stretch. Undaunted, Harvard added five more tallies before halftime.Â
Hopper added another tally in the third quarter.Â
The Crimson increased its lead to 15-2 before Sidney Finkler found the net in the fourth quarter. Izzy Lippolis scored Bucknell's final goal before Harvard scored twice more to end the game at 18-4.Â
