DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Bucknell baseball team was defeated 9-2 by Davidson in Game 1 at Wilson Field on Friday night. Senior Billy Kender was 2-for-4 at the plate with the lone RBI for the Bison.
Kender picked up two of Bucknell's four hits in the game as the Bison were stifled by the Wildcats pitching. Sophomore Michael Chiaravallo picked up a hit and senior Brady Karp was 1-for-2 with two walks at the plate.
Davidson took an early 3-0 lead after a three-run second inning. The Wildcats loaded the bases before a sacrifice fly, a single and a sacrifice bunt drove in the runs.
Kender knocked a two-out, RBI single in the top of the third to give the Bison a run back, but Jamie Daly answered with a solo home run for the Wildcats to restore the lead in the fourth.
The game quieted down until the seventh inning where the Wildcats broke it open with another three-spot to extend the lead to 7-1. Two more in the eighth inning would make it a 9-1 score.
The Bison grabbed another run on a wild pitch in the ninth, but Davidson would cruise to the 9-2 win.
