Women's Swimming and Diving Finishes Third at Three-Day Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's swimming and diving team finished a solid third out of seven teams after Sunday's finals to cap off the three-day Bucknell Invitational at the Kinney Natatorium.
The Bison finished with 977 points behind Brown (1,926) and Delaware (1,390). Fordham took fourth (876.5) followed by Davidson (661), UMBC (597) and Seton Hall (401.50).
Bucknell's highlight of the day was a fifth-place finish in the 400 free relay from Tori Castro, Kyla Kelly, Sara Ketron and Jennifer Bolden that marked a new top-10 time. Their time of 3:23.73 was good for seventh of the top-10 list and earned the Bison 40 points in the event.
Clara Renner and Sydney Dettmann both took top-five finishes in the 200 fly. Renner earned 28 points with a second-place finish in 1:59.39. Dettmann collected 25 points with a fifth-place finish in 2:02.73.
The day started off with the 1,650 free, and Emma Briganti took a seventh-place finish in 17:21.38 to earn 23 points. Tessa Feld followed her up in the B-final, ultimately finishing 13th with a time of 18:00.04 to take 14 points.
Alivia Wainwright was Bucknell's best finisher in the 200 back in 10th place. She took a time of 2:01.18 to take second in the B-final and earn 17 points. Sophia Burns finished 13th in the event with a time of 2:04.04 and Emma Feld took 14th with a time of 2:04.27. Talia Bugel and Sam Benzija took the top two spots of the C-final, finishing in 2:02.52 and 2:06.60 respectively.
Bolden took eighth in the 100 free with a time of 51.15 to earn 22 points. Castro took 13th swimming in the B-final with a time of 51.13. Ketron swam a time of 52.00 and Virginia Hastings followed with a time of 52.31.
In the 200 breast, Kelly Byrne swam a time of 2:16.26 to take fourth and collect 26 points. Her time was 0.21 seconds off of her top-10 time. Benzija finished 13th overall in the event with a time of 2:21.48.
Bucknell is back in action again after the winter break, traveling to Army for a dual meet on Saturday, January 10 at 12 p.m.
