Davis Sets Top-10 Time in the 100 Backstroke as Men’s Swimming and Diving Completes Second Day of Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Freshman Drew Davis solidified his stature in the 100 backstroke as the Bucknell men's swimming and diving team completed day two of the Bucknell Invitational on Saturday in the Kinney Natatorium.
The Bison remain in seventh place with 347 team points. Brown leads the pack with 1,138.5 points followed by Delaware (743), Seton Hall (630.50), UMBC (629), Davidson (485) and Fordham (420).
A day earlier, Davis led off the 400 medley relay with a 49.33 100 backstroke, which is the sixth-fastest 100 back in school history. On Saturday, Davis qualified for the A-final and went 49.60 in an eighth-place finish in the open 100 back. Fellow freshman Jason Kellerman took 12th in the event with a time of 50.26 to collect 15 points.
Davis had a hand in some of Bucknell's best finishes on the day. He kicked off the 200 medley relay swim that took ninth to earn 32 points in the first event of the day. Davis, James Lombardi, Finn Russell and Colin Smith swam a time of 1:30.59.
Davis later took 13th in the 100 fly with a time of 59.43 to earn 14 points. Kellerman posted Bucknell's best finish in the 400 IM. He took 11th with a time of 3:58.88 to collect 16 points. Alex Crossing earned 12 points and Riley Twiss earned nine points in the event.
Lombardi collected another 12 points in the 100 breast. He finished 15th to take 12 points.
Bucknell ended the day with a ninth-place finish in the 800 free relay. Dante Buonadonna, Smith, Finn Franks and Twiss swam a time of 6:44.34 to earn 36 points.
The Bucknell Invitational wraps up on Sunday as teams are set to compete in prelims at 10 a.m. followed by finals at 5 p.m. in the Kinney Natatorium.
