LEWISBURG, Pa.- Bucknell (5-5, 2-1 Patriot League)Â delivered another strong offensive performance in a 4-1 victory over the visiting Holy Cross Crusaders (4-6, 0-2 Patriot League) on Saturday afternoon. The Bison offense penetrated the Crusader defense all afternoon, hammering their armor for 18 shots. Bucknell kept Holy Cross off the board until late in the fourth quarter.Â
Four different Bison tallied goals for the Orange & Blue, showcasing head coach Kelsey Kolojejchick's preseason emphasis on offensive diversity. Reese Czajkowski scored a goal for the fourth straight game, as the sophomore continues her rise as one of the conference's best forwards. The Bison drew nine penalty corners.Â
Standby Kira Leclercq started the scoring in the first quarter off a penalty corner opportunity. Bella Notaro inserted the sphere to Nicky Punt who laid down a perfect set-up. Leclercq fired the missile past the charging purple wall for the 1-0 lead and her sixth tally of the season.Â
Bucknell's second goal came via another penalty corner in the second period. Leclercq ripped another shot that Czajkowski maneuvered her stick in front for the deflected score. The goal tied Czajkowski with Leclercq for the team lead in goals.Â
The Bison added another score before halftime with less than two minutes on the clock. Once again, the opportunity came from a penalty corner. Leclercq obtained her second assist of the day when Gianna Puorro tapped in the senior defender's shot for her first goal of 2025.Â
The final Bucknell goal came off a broken penalty corner attempt in the third period. Punt was unable to settle the insertion pass but the swift senior quickly recovered and maneuvered into the shooting circle. She fired a shot that Ryane Fisahn nudged in for the fourth goal of the game and her fourth goal of the season.
Holy Cross saved some face in the final period when Kendall Brady scored after receiving a long pass and shooting it past Sarah Althouse. Bucknell settled down defensively and prevented any late heroics.Â
Bucknell heads to Boston next Saturday for a pivotal Patriot League showdown with the Terriers.Â
