Water Polo Falls to No. 15 LMU

SAN JOSE, Calif.- Bucknell (8-14) finished up its California road trip with a 23-10 loss to No. 15 Loyola Marymount University (10-9) on Sunday morning. The Bison battled hard but could not keep pace with the nationally ranked Lions.

Ori Raz led the Bison with three goals. David Dumitru and Mateo Herrera split equal time in the cage. Dumitru recorded nine saves.

Raz scored the opening goal but the Lions roared afterwards, grabbing a 5-2 lead, as the first quarter concluded.

Bucknell only tallied one goal in the second period, as LMU added more four scores.

The Bison switched goalkeepers from Dumitru and Herrera at halftime. The change invigorated the offensive side with Bucknell scoring five times. The flip did not pay defensive dividends. LMU scored six times to blunt any Bucknell comeback.

The Lions finished the game with eight insurance goals. Bucknell scored two more to reach double-digits.

The Orange & Blue resume MAWPC action next Saturday with a game at Mount St. Mary's.
