Field Hockey Romps Local Rival Lock Haven 4-0
10/22/2025 6:48:00 PM | Field Hockey
LOCK HAVEN, Pa.- Bucknell (8-6) ran its winning streak to eight games over local rival Lock Haven (0-15) with a 4-0 victory. The Bison besieged the Bald Eagles all afternoon, generating 31 shots (22 on goal) and 13 penalty corners. Four different Bison players scored a goal, highlighting Bucknell's offensive diversity. The Orange & Blue have won five of its last six games and Bucknell has scored four goals in every single win.Â
The score would have been more lopsided had Lock Haven's goalkeeper Kelsey Felix not played excellently and recorded 18 saves.Â
Bucknell dominated the 43rd edition of the I-80 Romp from the opening whistle. The scoreboard did not reflect that fact until Nicky Punt scored three minutes before halftime. Kira Leclercq's shot bounced to Punt who turned around and hit a speedy slap shot past the lunging Felix. Bucknell led 1-0 at halftime, outshooting the Haven 18-1.Â
The Bison wasted little time extending its lead after halftime by scoring a minute and 19 seconds into the resumption of play. Katie Lintz's shot deflected off the goalkeeper's shin pads into the darkening sky. Gracie Kothari raced over and waited for the sphere to emerge into her stick's sphere of influence. Felix reached for the ball but Kothari's attempt was faster.Â
Kothari played a deuteragonist role in the Bucknell's third goal. In the 47th minute, the Bison obtained a breakaway with Kothari and Lintz leading the charge. Kothari selflessly passed up a shot attempt by sending the ball to a wide-open Lintz, who scored for her third goal in four games.Â
Reese Czajkowski capped the evening three minutes later with a spectacular one-woman effort. Jip Swaard passed the ball to Czajkowski, who seized the opportunity and skated past the Lock Haven defenders. The sophomore star pounded the ball home for her ninth goal of the season.Â
Head coach Kelsey Kolojejchick substituted Abby Zanelli into the cage with five minutes left and the sophomore keeper held strong against a flurry of penalty corners and shots.Â
The Bison return home to Graham Field this Sunday for a Senior Day showdown versus Davidson. Â
