Women's Swimming Takes Down Boston University 160.5-139.5

BOSTON, Mass. – The Bucknell women's swimming and diving team defeated Boston University 160.5-139.5 on Saturday afternoon at the FitRec Competition Pool. Clara Renner won all three events she competed in as the Bison won seven events and went 1-2 in five of them.
Renner won the 1,000-yard freestyle, 200-yard butterfly and the 500-yard freestyle. Kelly Byrne also had a great day finishing in the top-two of all three of her events. Byrne won the 200-yard breaststroke and took second in the 1,000-yard freestyle and 200-yard IM.
Kyla Kelly won both of her events, taking first in the 200-yard freestyle and the 200-yard IM. Sydney Jee went on to win the 200-yard breaststroke. She then took second in the 100-yard freestyle.
Boston U. opened the day with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, but the Bison got points back taking second and third in the event. The Bison then took the next two events.
Renner and Byrne went 1-2 in the 1,000-yard freestyle and then went 1-4 in the following event. Kelly won the 200-yard freestyle, followed up by Virginia Hastings in second, freshman Tessa Feld in third and freshman Keira Giles in fourth.
The Bison took the top-three spots in three of the final four individual races on the day in the 200-yard breaststroke, the 500-yard freestyle and the 200-yard IM.
Dea Mielenz placed fifth in the three-meter dive, and Natalie Penman placed fifth in the one-meter dive.
Bucknell is back in action on October 25 to host the Bucknell Invitational at the Kinney Natatorium.
