WEST POINT, N.Y. – Patriot League goal-scoring leader Brigid Duffy added two more to her ledger, leading Army West Point to a 4-0 win over Bucknell on Wednesday night at Malek Stadium at Clinton Field. The Bison dropped their second straight game and fell to 1-2-3 in Patriot League play, while Army improved to 3-2-1 and jumped into a tie for third place.
The Patriot League's highest-scoring team needed only 6:21 to get on the scoreboard. Bella Cooke fed Duffy, who took a touch around a defender and the charging goalkeeper before depositing her 11th goal of the season.
Duffy notched her 12th just 46 seconds into the second half. She received a pass from Cooke with her back to goal, turned and hit the top left corner. Cami Silvestro and Sophia Henry added two more just past the hour mark.
Bucknell had some bright moments around the 13th minute. Gaby Parker's well-struck shot was parried down by Army keeper Karalyn Dail. The Bison then had a couple of corner kicks that Army was able to clear.
The Bison also generated some good chances with the subs on late in the match. Kenice Wilson got a couple of crosses in, and a sliding Ally Flaherty just missed getting her toe on a ball just in front of goal.
Reese Dolan made six saves in goal for the Bison, while Dail was credited with two for Army. The Black Knights finished with a 19-7 shot advantage, and Bucknell led 5-3 in corner kicks.
The Bison are now in a tie for seventh place with Lafayette and American with three regular-season contests remaining. Next up is a Senior Day home date with Navy on Sunday at 1 p.m.
