Women’s Swimming & Diving Rolls to 218-82 Senior Day Win over Lehigh

RESULTS
LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's swimming & diving team won 14 of the 16 events in a dominant 218-82 win over Lehigh on Saturday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium. The big Senior Day victory in the final dual meet of the season means the Bison will finish with a 6-2 record, including a 5-2 mark against Patriot League opponents.
Bucknell piled up the points against the Mountain Hawks, epitomized by a 1-2-3-4 finish from Liz Dokina, Sydney Jee, Hanna Bingley, and Ava Stallmeyer in the 200-yard breaststroke. The Bison took the top three places in three other events and went 1-2 in three more.
Freshman Clara Renner remained unbeaten in dual meets this season with three more wins in the 1000 freestyle and both butterfly events. Renner now has 19 wins on the season, and in the 100 fly, her time of 55.43 was .06 under her personal best, leaving her in sixth place on Bucknell's all-time list.
Rylie Giles, one of 10 Bison women honored before the meet on Senior Day, won the 200 and 500 freestyles, and Kyla Kelly was also a double winner in the 100 free and 200 IM.
Renner and Kelly Byrne went 1-2 in the 1000, separated by only 1.5 seconds. Giles won the 200 free, and then the race of the day came in the 100 backstroke, where teammates Sofia Burns, Kelly, and Talia Bugel all touched within .57 seconds.
One race later, there was another near dead heat in the 100 breaststroke, with Jee edging Dokina by .02 seconds. Bingley finished third. Renner, Skye Sunderhauf, and Sydney Dettmann went 1-2-3 in the 200 fly, followed by a 1-2 effort from Sara Ketron and Virginia Hastings in another close race in the 50 free.
Reggie Frias picked up points with a win on the 1-meter diving board, with Gina Hinthorn, Meghan Catherwood, and Natalie Penman placing 3-4-5.
Lehigh's only wins in the meet came from Willa Werweiss in the 200 back and Katie Whitaker in the 3-meter dive. Burns, Byrne, and Bugel went 2-3-4 behind Werweiss in the 200 back.
Bucknell closed out the meet with a win in the 400 free relay, with Hastings, Jen Bolden, Dettmann, and Ketron comprising the quartet.
Bucknell improved to 36-10 all-time against Lehigh and 22-2 in the last 24 meetings.
Bucknell returns to action next Saturday with the Bison Invitational at Kinney Natatorium, and then the team will host the Patriot League Championships Feb. 19-22.
