RESULTS
LEWISBURG, Pa. – The all-senior foursome of Nick Shopis, Justin DiSanto, Ed Park, and Chris Kopac won the 400-yard freestyle relay to put an exclamation point on a brilliant Senior Day performance from the Bucknell men's swimming and diving team. The Bison won 15 of the 16 events on the way in a 227-70 victory over Lehigh in the final dual meet of the season on Saturday at Kinney Natatorium.
DiSanto and Dorsel both had huge days. Both won two individual events, and DiSanto also swam legs on both winning relays. Alex Crossing captured both distance free events, and Jack Krug swept the two diving events, posting an impressive PR on the 3-meter board.
Bucknell went 1-2-3 in six events and 1-2 in four others on the way to its fifth straight win over the Mountain Hawks. The Bison wrapped up the dual campaign with a 4-4 record.
Shane Wynne, Will Hedges, Finn Russell, and DiSanto started the day with a win in the 200 medley relay, and Crossing followed with an eight-second win in the 1,000 free. Kopac and Damian Czartoryjski finished .79 apart in a 1-2 finish in the 200 free before Ben Kisker won Lehigh's only event of the day in the 100 backstroke.
It was all Bison from there starting with a win from James Lombardi in the 100 breaststroke followed by three straight 1-2-3 finishes. Dorsel, Riley Twiss, and Ed Park took the top three places in the 200 fly DiSanto, Russell, and Colin Smith went 1-2-3 in the 50 free; and DiSanto, Dante Buonadonna, and Smith did the same a few minutes later in the 100 free.
Krug led 1-2-3 finishes in both diving events. On the 1-meter board, his winning mark of 281.33 was a mere .37 off his personal best. Later, his 307.95 in the 3-meter competition nudged him past teammate Jackson Vinarub for the No. 2 spot in team history. Vinarub tallied a 307.80 in the season-opener against Boston University in October.
Bucknell dominated down the stretch, with Braden Beagle winning the 200 back, followed by a 1-2 finish from Dorsel and Hedges in the 200 breast. Crossing, Kopac, and Twiss went 1-2-3 in the 500 free, and then Russell picked up a win in the 100 fly with Czartoryjski second. The final individual win came from Buonadonna in the 200 IM, just ahead of teammate Dorsel.
Bucknell returns to action next Saturday with the Bison Invitational at Kinney Natatorium, and then the team will host the Patriot League Championships Feb. 19-22.
