- The Bison women's tennis team makes its 2025 debut this weekend with a pair of dual matches. Bucknell hosts Villanova at the Central PA Tennis Center on Saturday evening and then travels to Delaware for a 1:30 p.m. match on Sunday.
- The Bison competed in four tournaments and one dual match in the fall. They downed Franklin & Marshall 6-1 in the lone dual on Oct. 19.
- Bucknell compiled a 40-22 (.645) singles record and a 19-10 (.655) doubles mark in the fall. Leading the way were freshmen Natalie Devraj and Cameron King with 7-1 records, followed by senior Whitney King (6-2) and junior Mirra Manolov (6-3) with six wins apiece.
- Cameron King also went 6-1 in doubles, including a 3-0 mark with Tori Allen at the Bucknell Invitational.
- Whitney King and junior Abby Platt represented Bucknell at the Patriot League ITA Conference Masters qualifier at West Point. King won her opening match in straight sets against Lehigh's Hamsa Jagaval but fell to Army's Emma Sy in the quarterfinals. Platt lost a tough three-setter to Lafayette's Alyssa Perdomo in the first round.
- The Bison have 18 dual matches on the spring schedule, all leading up to the Patriot League Tournament, which will be hosted by Colgate on Apr. 24-27.Â
- Villanova dropped a pair of 7-0 decisions to Penn State and Penn last week, and the Wildcats will travel to Delaware on Friday before coming to South Williamsport to face the Bison on Saturday evening.
- The Wildcats finished 10-13 last season. The clipped Seton Hall 4-3 in the first round of the Big East Tournament before falling 4-1 to DePaul.
- Bucknell edged Villanova 4-3 last season at the Central PA Tennis Center. Tyne Miller won the deciding match 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 over Valieriia Kornieva at No. 4 singles. Miller and Anna Lajos won the deciding doubles match 6-4 to give the Bison the first point, and then Miller, Abby Platt, and Jaycie Mair won their singles matches.Â
- The Blue Hens make their spring debut at home against Villanova on Friday afternoon, and then the Bison visit on Sunday afternoon.
- Delaware competed in five fall tournaments, capped by the doubles team of Greta Schieroni and Navya Vadlamudi representing the CAA at the ITA Conference Masters Championship in Georgia.
- Cornelia Kack (9-1), Maryia Hrynashka (9-3), and Paulina Jurkowska (9-3) led the team with nine wins apiece in the fall. Vadlamudi went 8-2, as the Blue Hens combined for a 53-18 singles record.
- Delaware was even better in doubles, posting a 36-11 record, including an 11-2 mark from the tandem of Hrynashka and Jurkowska.
- The Blue hens finished 20-7 overall and 6-1 in the CAA last season. At the CAA Tournament at Elon, Delaware won 4-0 verdicts against Hampton and Drexel before falling 4-0 to William & Mary in the championship match.
- Bucknell and Delaware met last season, with the Blue Hens winning 7-0 at the Central PA Tennis Center.
- Bucknell will play two more matches at home next weekend, hosting Hofstra on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Howard on Sunday at noon.
