Connor Davis Named to Preseason All-Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Team
1/22/2025 2:00:00 PM | Men's Lacrosse
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior attackman Connor Davis earned a spot on the Preseason All-Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Team on Wednesday. Davis, who was a Second Team All-PL pick last season and the league's Rookie of the Year in 2022, was one of 16 players named to the preseason squad, including four from the attack position.
Davis has already stamped his name in the Bucknell record books as one of the top scorers in team history. With the 2025 season still to come, Davis ranks fifth in Bison annals with 108 career goals. He had a 45-goal season in 2022 – the most goals ever scored by a Bucknell freshman – and then added 25 goals in an injury-filled sophomore season and 38 more last spring to lead the team. If he can put together another 30-goal campaign this year, he will reach Justin Zackey's 31-year-old school record of 138 career goals.
The Bethesda, Md., native, who was also an Academic All-Patriot League selection last season, is entering his second year as a team captain. His rate of 2.71 goals per game ranked a close second in the Patriot League last season, trailing only Loyola's Adam Poitras at 2.73. Davis had a seven-goal game against Lafayette and scored at least three seven times.
The Patriot League preseason poll was also announced on Wednesday, and Bucknell was picked to finish seventh. Army West Point earned 14 of the 18 first-place votes and was tabbed as the preseason favorite. Lehigh was picked second, followed by Colgate, Boston University, Navy, Loyola, Bucknell, Lafayette, and Holy Cross.
Army's Jackson Eicher, Colgate's Rory Connor, and Loyola's Matt Minicus were the other attackmen along with Davis named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team. Army claimed the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year (Evan Plunkett), Defensive Player of the Year (AJ Pilate), and Faceoff Specialist of the Year (Will Coletti), while Colgate's Matt LaCombe was the choice for Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year.
Bucknell hosts Towson and Wagner in a set of scrimmages on Saturday, and then Merrimack visits Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium for the 2025 season opener on Feb. 1.
